Devastated Dundee diehard Fin Robertson admits the Dens side owe their supporters big time after being hit for six twice in just four days.
The boyhood Dark Blues fan was feeling it more than most in the away dressing room at Celtic on Wednesday night after Tony Docherty’s side suffered a second successive 6-0 drubbing to leave them lurking just a point above the relegation play-off spot.
But with Championship strugglers Airdrie up next in tomorrow’s Scottish Cup fifth round clash at Dens, Robertson insists he and his Dundee team mates know they need to deliver for his fellow fans.
We just have to win the game on Saturday.
We need to get around each other and then go again.
“It's hard to put your finger on exactly why, but we've just got to keep working hard in training and put it right.”
Docherty said he wanted his players’ pride to be dented after the Parkhead rout - so they could use the pain to get back on the horse against Airdrie.
But Robertson insists the Dens boss doesn’t need to lay into his bruised squad because they know themselves the results are completely unacceptable.
He said: “The manager doesn't really have to give us much because we know ourselves.
We've got another game on Saturday and we need to win.
