Caoimhin Kelleher has been a key part of Liverpool’s squad for years.
But being the backup to Alisson Becker has limited his playing time.
At 26, he has proven himself at the highest level, stepping up in Premier League and Champions League matches.
Yet, with Alisson firmly established as the number one, Kelleher might have to move on to get regular game time.
A transfer looks even more likely with Liverpool closing in on a deal for Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The Republic of Ireland international is expected to attract plenty of interest, and the decision on his next club will be crucial.
A move abroad is an option, but staying in the Premier League might be the best choice.
That is exactly what former Liverpool defender Gregory Vignal thinks.
Former Liverpool defender offers Caoimhin Kelleher transfer advice
Speaking to Empire of the Kop, Vignal had clear advice for Kelleher: “I think maybe try to stay in England.”
“This is a difficult question, but if I am him, maybe I try to stay in England.”
When asked about a possible destination, he suggested Tottenham as a potential fit.
He said, “I don’t know.
Maybe a club like Tottenham; why not?”
A move to Spurs is uncertain, though.
The club already has Guglielmo Vicario as their number one and recently signed Antonin Kinsky.
Other clubs, like Brighton, Bournemouth, or Fulham, could give Kelleher the game time he needs.
It is never easy to leave Liverpool, but Kelleher deserves to be a first-choice goalkeeper.
If he does go, the club must ensure he moves to the right team for a fair fee.
