It seems a former Liverpool man has been recruited by Manchester United to help steady the ship at Old Trafford.
Manchester United’s decade under the Glazer ownership has been marked by significant financial losses and declining on-field performance, with hopes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS investment would herald a new era.
However, the early signs suggest the club’s challenges run deeper than anticipated.
The financial mismanagement has been particularly heavy, with the club spending over £600 million on players under previous manager Erik ten Hag alone, while struggling to maintain their position among Europe’s elite.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 27.7% stake brought initial optimism, with the British billionaire promising to “take Manchester United back to the top of English, European and world football”.
However, the reality has proven more challenging.
The Portuguese coach has Man United sat in 13th place, a long way off Liverpool at the top.
However, Manchester United already have a plan to win the title in three years, and it involves a former Liverpool man.
Former Liverpool man develops Manchester United title blueprint
According to Daily Mial, former Liverpool employee James Morton is part of a team that has produced the blue print that will land the Red Devils a Premier League title in three years.
Man United have not won the Premier League title since the 2012-13 season?
But they have launched a plan called ‘Mission 21’ which will help them capture a 21st Premier League title within the next three years.
The drive is led by Sir Dave Brailsford and will see an emphasis placed on developing emerging prospects rather than paying top money for older, more established players.
The former British Cycling supremo was brought in by co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos following their investment in the club last year.
Brailsford’s blueprint was developed in conjunction with former Liverpool man James Morton.
Morton is a professor of exercise metabolism at Liverpool John Moores University and worked at Anfield from 2010 to 2015 as a performance nutritionist before the Jurgen Klopp era.
The scientist pioneered a dietary revolution in cycling which dictated what Team Sky’s Tour de France winners were eating at all hours.
Nutritionists have since championed his methods after he relied on research showing how restricting carbohydrates heavily helped glean better long-term outcomes.
