One former Liverpool star has found a new home in Sweden.
Liverpool are currently making plans for a busy summer that could see several current first-team stars leave the club.
Diogo Jota, Dawrin Nunez and Kostas Tsimikas could be on their way out, with Arne Slot’s side prioritising the acquisition of a new striker and a left-back.
According to the latest reports, the Reds have already initiated talks with primary No.
9 target Alexander Isak over a summer move, while the interest in Milos Kerkez is said to be genuine.
Elsewhere, while it has been reported that Federico Chiesa’s future lies outside of England, his impressive Carabao Cup final cameo could mean he gets more minutes in the coming days and perhaps establish himself as a reliable option in attack for Slot.
But while some of the current stars at Anfield are making plans over a possible summer switch, one former Liverpool man recently secured a loan move.
The player in question is former academy star Elijah Dixon-Bonner.
The midfielder, who left Liverpool for QPR in 2022 has joined Swedish side Vasteras SK on loan until July.
After joining from Arsenal aged 14, Dixon-Bonner had looked like a future prospect for the senior Liverpool squad.
During the 2021/22 campaign, he caught Klopp’s eye, with the former Liverpool boss raving about his performance in the Carabao Cup tie against Preston in 2021.
“In the last international break, he was incredible,” Klopp said of the youngster after he came off the bench against Preston in October 2021.
“He’s been long in the club already but was not really on the radar – and now all of a sudden he is there.”
“He deserved these three or four minutes tonight.
For a young boy, it’s a massive thing to play your first game for the first team and I’m really happy for him that we could give him the opportunity.”
Unfortunately, Dixon-Bonner didn’t last much longer at Liverpool, with an FA Cup start in 2022 his last appearance at the club.
After leaving Liverpool, he joined QPR?
However, the 24-year-old has not played for the club since coming off the bench in added time of their 0-0 draw at Watford in November, so he has now found a new home at Swedish second-division club Vasteras.
Vasteras were relegated to the second tier last term and begin their season against Orebrok SK on 1 April.
“Coming to VSK feels like a great opportunity for me to play football and hopefully contribute to the team’s success,” Dixon-Bonner told the club’s official website.
“I look forward to the spring with confidence.”
