Liverpool are lagging behind some of their Premier League competitors when it comes to owning multiple football clubs.
The likes of Manchester City and Chelsea have laid clear the benefits the multi-club model can have for top sides in 2025.
And while some Liverpool supporters will not like the idea of their owners buying another club to run alongside the Reds, it looks inevitable that it will happen.
FSG almost bought Bordeaux in 2024, before pulling out late on.
And as per The Athletic on Saturday, the Liverpool owners are now ‘exploring a deal’ to acquire Spanish club Malaga.
Malaga have fallen on hard times of late and were in the Spanish third tier only last season.
And as FSG consider their move, we take a look at four Malaga graduates who could have benefitted the Reds.

Real Madrid are certainly not in Liverpool’s good books right now as they stand on the cusp of stealing Trent Alexander-Arnold away from Anfield.
Once he inevitably arrives in Madrid, Alexander-Arnold will link up with a player who came through at – but never played for – Malaga: Brahim Diaz.
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
A native of the city, Diaz spent five years in the Malaga academy before leaving for Man City in 2015, aged just 16.
His move should be an interesting one for Liverpool fans to note, with their club potentially in line to take players of a similar age from Malaga.
Things didn’t quite work out for Diaz at City, but having joined Real Madrid in 2019 and spent three years out on-loan with AC Milan, the 25-year-old is now a useful squad player for Carlo Ancelotti.

Taking on a second club is never going to guarantee a conveyor belt of talent for FSG to send to Liverpool, but it could bring a slew of steady performers.
One player who certainly fits that description is Pablo Fornals, who also spent time at Malaga in his youth.
Fornals joined the club as a 16-year-old in 2012, before going on to make his first-team debut two years later.
The now Real Betis midfielder later joined West Ham, where he discovered a penchant for scoring against Liverpool, and has even won six caps for the Spanish national side.

Another who perhaps would have caught Liverpool’s eye had their partnership with Malaga dated back is winger Samu Castillejo.
Having joined as a 12-year-old in 2007, Castillejo went on to play 39 times for the Malaga first-team.
From there he was picked up by Villarreal and eventually made his way to AC Milan, where he linked up with fellow Malaga graduate Diaz.
Now 30, Castillejo’s career has petered out and he’s playing in Malaysia.
If the rumours are to be believed, then Liverpool would love to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth this summer.
What many may not know is that Huijsen actually spent time at Malaga in his younger years.
Still only 19, the centre-back is already on the third permanent, professional club of his career and could make it a fourth this year.
The first of those was Malaga, where Huijsen played from the ages of 10 to 16.
Juventus spotted the talented defender, though, and took him to Italy in 2021.
Had FSG been just a little quicker in their interest here, then Liverpool could have had Huijsen before his Premier League emergence with Bournemouth.
