As Liverpool approach what could be a historic Premier League title triumph this weekend, attention is already turning to what has been dubbed as a transformative summer transfer window.
With Arne Slot’s side poised to secure their 20th league crown, the club faces critical decisions on squad restructuring—balancing high-profile exits, fringe player futures, and strategic reinforcements.
While plenty of players have been linked to the club, the futures of some fringe players in Arne Slot’s squad needs to be decided.
The Dutchman has received some criticism for his use of the squad or lack therefore, with Jamie Carragher openly suggesting the Reds boss doesn’t trust his full retinue of players.
Wataru Endo is one who will have to decide if he wants to stay at Anfield as a back-up option or seek pastures anew for increased gametime ahead of the 2026 World Cup – of which Japan have already qualified for.
Equally uncertain is Federico Chiesa’s fate.
Once a rising star with 34 league appearances in 2023/24, the 21-year-old has been reduced to a mere 175 Premier League minutes, spread out over 13 substitutions – a far cry from how heavily Klopp used him last term.
As a result, the England U21 international has been linked away with a plethora of clubs including those in England (Bournemouth and Crystal Palace) as well as the Bundesliga (Borussia Dortmund).
But according to the Athletic’s Andy Jones, it’s very likely that the versatile midfielder remains at Anfield over the summer.
The journalist claims that Elliott is not “looking for the exit,” and it is expected that Liverpool will not “push him out.”
Elliott’s hopes of impressing Slot early were derailed by a metatarsal fracture sustained during England U21 duty in September 2024.
Initially diagnosed as a six-week injury, complications from persistent inflammation extended his absence to 14 weeks, sidelining him until December.
The timing proved disastrous:
Missed 7 Premier League matches during Liverpool’s 11-game unbeaten start
Absent for critical Champions League group-stage wins over AC Milan and Bologna
