With the January transfer window firmly shut and sealed, the period sparked intense debate among Liverpool fans as the club opted against making any new signings.

This decision follows a summer where Liverpool’s transfer activity was minimal, with Federico Chiesa being the only major acquisition from Juventus for £10 million.

The lack of transfer activity has fueled frustration and skepticism, particularly online, with many supporters questioning the club’s strategic approach to transfers and the role of Sporting Director Richard Hughes.

Fans had anticipated the January window as an opportunity for Liverpool to address perceived weaknesses in the squad, but instead, the club focused on loaning out young players to gain experience.

Speaking in January, manager Arne Slot said about the upcoming summer window:

“Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, we should always be competing for the Champions League.

I’m hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level.”

“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well.

There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.”

“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”

And it seems that German outlets believe Liverpool are working in the background for the summer too.

Liverpool linked to Bundesliga forward

German media outlet SportBild (via Sport Witness) has linked Liverpool with Mohamed Amoura, a versatile attacker currently on loan at VfL Wolfsburg from Union SG.

Amoura, 24, has impressed this season with eight goals and eight assists in 28 matches, showcasing his ability to play both as a striker and left-winger.

According to SportBild, Liverpool has established contact with Amoura’s representatives, although there are no further details on the nature of these discussions.

Arsenal is also reported to be monitoring Amoura’s progress, but the focus remains on Liverpool’s interest.

Wolfsburg is set to make Amoura’s move permanent in the summer for €14.5 million plus potential bonuses, meaning they may try and turnaround a quick profit sale.

Interestingly, the Algerian international was linked to Liverpool last year, as he played against the Reds for Union SG in last season’s Europa League group stage.

So, it certainly seems like he is one to watch in the coming months.
