Darwin Nunez and Jose Mourinho could form a partnership next season if reports from Turkey are to be believed.
As it stands, Liverpool’s summer transfer plans involve Nunez leaving the club for greener pastures.
This is according to TeamTalk, who reported on Friday that both Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on the Uruguayan’s situation at Anfield.
And now, a fresh report from Turkey is linking Nunez with a move to Fenerbahce.
According to Turkish outlet Aksam, Jose Mourinho is keen on signing Nunez at Fenerbahce.
The Super League club look set to again finish runners-up to bitter Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and are aiming to bolster their firepower.
Aksam made the claim in an article titled “He is coming to stir up trouble in the Super League,” where they reveal that “Fenerbahce has taken action to sign Liverpool’s world star forward Darwin Nunez.”
Per the report, Fenerbahce will ‘push all the conditions for this transfer in the summer months’.
They are hoping for a younger option with Edin Dzeko, aged 39.
“Fenerbahçe, who will start the new season with Technical Director Jose Mourinho, has determined Darwin Nunez as the biggest target of the summer months,” the report said.
“The advancing age of the team’s current forward, Edin Dzeko, and the offers for Youssef En-Nesyri have pushed the yellow-navy team to transfer a forward.
Since Jose Mourinho also likes the player very much, Fenerbahçe is expected to push all the conditions for this transfer in the summer months”
The report also suggested that the Yellow Canaries hope to land Nunez for just around £25 million?
That would mean Liverpool taking a significant financial hit on Nunez.
“In light of the developments, it is thought that this transfer could be completed for a figure around 30 million euros,” the report said.
