Richards countered, defending his own podcast The Rest Is Football: "Numbers say differently." To which Carragher retorted: "Wages or are we talking numbers?" Richards clarified: "We're talking numbers.

He tried to pretend that they've got the best football podcast?"

Richards shared: "Podcast wars, basically.

I said 'you're at the top of your game as a pundit' and he said he was on the best Premier League show, the best Champions League show and the best podcast.

We like to have a bit of competition in there but you can't be the best podcast when you stand there talking over each other all the time."

This prompted chuckles from Alan Shearer and a playful retort from Richards: "Gary's firing shots!"
