Gary Lineker is feeling quite bullish about Mohamed Salah extending his stay at Liverpool, and has spotted some hints that make him believe a new deal is on the horizon.

Discussing it on his The Rest is Football podcast, Lineker revealed: "I've got a feeling he will [sign a new contract]." His confidence was echoed by Alan Shearer, who added when Lineker mentioned the lack of noise around the situation: "It's just too quiet.

I'd be absolutely amazed if Liverpool doesn't sign him up for another couple of years."

The seed of Lineker's conviction was planted during an impromptu encounter with Salah when visiting Liverpool’s training complex to interview Slot.

He asked me, 'how old were you when you finished?'

"And I said, 'well, English football, I finished when I was 32 and then I went to play in Japan for a couple of years'

And he went, 'ah, you went for the money, did you?'

"And I said, 'well, yeah, I suppose so'
