Gary Neville believes that Arsenal would probably have been encouraged by what it saw during Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Wolves on Sunday.

The Reds are in the midst of a run of five Premier League games in the space of just 15 days, with the first being last week's 2-2 draw versus Everton and the second coming against Vitor Pereira's struggling Wolves side.

Considering Liverpool's next three games are against Aston Villa, Manchester City and Newcastle, the clash with Wolves, on paper, looked like the most winnable of the five, and while the Reds did ultimately win, they were hanging on towards the end of the match.

First-half goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah gave Liverpool a 2-0 lead at half-time and looked likely to set the platform for a routine victory, but Wolves emerged with renewed purpose in the second half and caused serious problems.

Matheus Cunha's brilliant strike from outside the area halved Liverpool's lead, and the home team required a last-gasp challenge in injury time from Jarell Quansah to prevent Marshall Munetsi from scoring an equalizer

Twenty-four hours earlier, Arsenal toiled against another of the Premier League's relegation-threatened sides and required a late brace from substitute and auxiliary striker Mikel Merino to record a 2-0 win at Leicester City.

That result temporarily cut the Reds' lead at the top of the Premier League table to four points, and although Liverpool restored its seven-point advantage with the win against Wolves, Neville thinks Mikel Arteta would have liked what he saw at Anfield.

“It was a good day for Liverpool and it was also a little bit of a good day for Arsenal," Neville told Sky Sports

“Maybe in the sense that, hang on a minute Wolves are near the bottom of the league and Liverpool just got over the line today, but if you’re Liverpool you know you’re not going to win every game well.

“You know that there’s going to come a point where a team are going to just catch you out a little bit and they’ve got two big games coming up now this week Liverpool
