Gary Neville is standing by his Premier League title prediction after a weekend in which Liverpool were the big winners
Gary Neville speaks on his podcast from Old Trafford after a Premier League weekend in which Liverpool won and all their main rivals lost
As weekends go, the one just passed could not have gone more perfectly for Liverpool.
With their main rivals all losing, the Reds took full advantage with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at an electric Anfield.
The win moved Liverpool two points clear at the top after previous pacesetters Manchester City saw their 32-game unbeaten league run come to an end after suffering a shock 2-1 loss at Bournemouth.
?
But while no-one is suggesting that defeat will be fatal to Pep Guardiola's side's chances of making it a fifth straight title, there are now major questions mark over whether Arsenal, even at this stage in the campaign, are still in the running.

After losing at giant-killing Bournemouth themselves and then letting a lead slip in having to settle for a 2-2 draw at home to Arne Slot's new table-toppers, the Gunners' winless league run stretch to three matches after going down 1-0 at Newcastle United on Saturday.
?
That loss leaves Mikel Arteta's men down in fifth, now below a resurgent Nottingham Forest and a much-improved Chelsea, and five points behind second-placed City and seven behind the Reds.
But Gary Neville believes his tip to win the league this season are still in the race.
Because they will be looking at Liverpool and they will be looking at City and thinking, 'not quite perfect' - they are not what they were three or four years ago.
?
"This is a big chance.
Don’t wait for them."
The Gunners, City and Liverpool are all in Champions League action in midweek before they play one final Premier League match before the final international break of the year.
City travel to Brighton in the 5.30pm kick-off on Saturday before the Reds host Aston Villa at 8pm.
The final fixture of the weekend will see Arsenal travel across London to Chelsea in the 4.30pm Sunday kick-off.
?
And Neville, who predicted Liverpool to finish outside of the top four at the start of the season, added: "It's been a great weekend for Liverpool and they've had a really good start.
But City aren't quite what they were and Liverpool aren't perfect.
"Sometimes you need a blip - and it's a serious blip, it's been a poor start for them - but they could go on a run, could get players back post the international break, and they could be very dangerous.
?
"Hit your form in March, April and May - that's when you want to be flying.
