Liverpool will equal Manchester United’s record of 20 English league titles if they are to avoid defeat against Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.

The Reds have scored 75 goals in the Premier League this season, winning 24 times and losing just two games.

Despite being in a fiercely competitive league, Liverpool went on a staggering 26 game unbeaten run and have now cruised into a 12 point lead at the top of the table, needing just one more point to be crowned champions.

Liverpool were given the opportunity of winning the title in mid-week as Arsenal welcomed Crystal Palace at the Emirates but that game ended in a draw.

Because of that, Liverpool are now able to win the league in front of a full Anfield, something that was taken away from them in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Arne Slot has been a big reason behind Liverpool’s success this season, filling the Jurgen Klopp-sized hole remarkably well.

Implementing his style of play with ease, the players have adapted extremely well to the new system.

Gary Neviile has heaped praise onto Slot, hailing the Dutchman’s transformative impact at Liverpool.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Manchester United defender has described it as one of the best coaching performances in Premier League history.

“He’s done an absolutely brilliant job, honestly.

I think that at the start of the season – and none of us can rewrite history – there weren’t many Liverpool fans who thought they could win the league.”

“To do what they’ve done is very special.

Over a season, the coaching performance of Arne Slot is one of the best we’ve seen.”

“Going into that dressing room and having to establish control and authority, but knowing he probably could never do it the same way as Jurgen Klopp.”

“No one can be the same personality and character as he was.

But the way in which all season he’s coped with the conversations around the contracts, he’s dealt with those conversations.”

“It’s also the way in which he’s kept calm and composed at points where maybe it’s not gone as well for them as he would have wanted.”

Even with his Manchester United roots, he has buried his allegiance to give the Liverpool manager some much deserved appreciation.

Arne Slot has adapted expertly well to working at one of the biggest clubs in the world, and has shown that he is the right man to lead Liverpool out of the shadows of the legacy that Jurgen Klopp left behind.
