Liverpool’s trio of enormous, expiring contracts is threatening to overshadow the end of what could be a hugely successful season.

The Reds are out of the Champions League after losing against PSG in midweek, but could still end the season as double winners.

However, if Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold – or a combination of those three players – leave, then there will certainly be a cloud over the celebrations.

Van Dijk and Salah have perhaps been the two most important players in the Liverpool squad this season, while Alexander-Arnold has barely missed a game, too.

Rousing The Kop understands that Liverpool are planning a renewed push during the March international break to get both Van Dijk and Salah tied down, but hope is dwindling over Alexander-Arnold staying.

As Liverpool supporters continue to wait for news of whether any of their star men will still be here next season, all sorts of scenarios have been dreamed up in which the Reds announce their plans.

And former striker Peter Crouch has outlined one genius way of letting the world know.

Until one of the three players signs elsewhere, there is still a slim chance that all three could stay and commit their futures to Liverpool.

If that unlikely scenario did play out, Crouch and his co-hosts on That Peter Crouch Podcast suggested that the players themselves could announce it on the pitch.

After it was put to him that Salah could whip his top off after scoring to display a message written on his chest, Crouch wholeheartedly backed the idea.

“Imagine what an iconic picture that would be, it’s like ‘Just Stop Oil’, he just rips it off and it says ‘I’m not ——- leaving’ written on!” laughed the former Liverpool striker.

Staying,” Crouch continued, chuckling to himself.

“I genuinely think they should definitely do something like this, if all three of them signed, literally.

The way the announcement videos are now I feel like that could be huge.”

It would be so good if Liverpool decided to get creative with these contract announcements and also have a bit of fun with it.

The issue has been hanging over the club right from the start of the season.

If all that pressure is broken and two or three of the players are staying, then why not make it a bit of a laugh.

Ultimately, though, Liverpool fans will not care one jot how the contracts are announced, as long as they are announced.

At this point in time, that somehow feels like a long way away.
