One former Liverpool midfielder could be lining up for Spanish La Liga side Girona in the coming days.
Several former Liverpool stars have been linked with new clubs in the January transfer window.
Sadio Mane, for example, was linked with a move to Serie A giants Inter Milan, while his former teammate at Liverpool, Roberto Firmino, was also linked with a switch to Turkish side Fernabahce.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson looks close to joining French Ligue 1 side AS Monaco, although Ajax have reportedly blocked the move.
Elsewhere, former Liverpool loanee Arthur Melo was linked with a return to Brazil, with Santos reportedly keen on his services.
The 28-year-old has been in transfer limbo since leaving Liverpool.
He was linked with a move to Everton and Marseille last summer, but none of those deals materialised?
He has remained at parent club Juventus since then, but has been frozen out of the first team.
However, it seems his Juventus hell is about to end, with the midfielder spoilt for choice with Santos and a new La Liga club keen on his services.
Girona want Arthur Melo
This is according to reliable football journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Girona has entered the race for Arthur Melo.
“Girona have entered the race to sign Arthur Melo after formal proposal from Santos,” the Italian journalist wrote on X.
Romano added that the Spanish side are offering more Juventus a better financial deal than Santos.
“Spanish club is now trying to agree on a deal for the midfielder, offering higher salary coverage to Juventus,” he added.
