Liverpool need to pick themselves up and go again after suffering a demoralising late equaliser against Everton.

The Reds had looked set to take three important points at Goodison Park, but let it slip in the final seconds of the game.

Arne Slot was left fuming at the final whistle, and as a result was not permitted to perform his usual media duties following the match.

Instead, Liverpool supporters had to wait until Friday morning to hear from their boss, with Slot having since calmed down and reflected upon the game.

And while the Liverpool head coach was in decent enough spirits as he faced the press, he did reveal a new injury problem for the Reds.

As the prepare to face Wolves on Sunday, Liverpool may have to do so without Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo has been in a rich vein of form over recent months.

However, that Midas touch deserted him at Goodison on Wednesday.

However, as it turns out the Dutchman may have been carrying a knock, limiting his effectiveness.

According to Slot, Gakpo picked up an injury against Everton, meaning he had to be substituted in the second-half.

Asked on the general health of the Liverpool squad ahead of the Wolves game, Slot gave an update on Trent Alexander-Arnold, Tyler Morton and Joe Gomez before revealing the issue for Gakpo.

“It was the intention for Trent to play around half an hour and he played somewhere around that,” began the 46-year-old.

I had to take him off because he got an injury, a bit of a knock, so let’s see how he is today.”

Journalists were waiting with bated breath on Friday to hear from Slot following the drama of Wednesday’s Merseyside Derby.

Slot is awaiting news on whether he’ll face a touchline ban after being given a red card by referee Michael Oliver.

It was a surprising sending off after final whistle given that the Dutchman did not appear to do an awful lot wrong when confronting Oliver.

But when asked to give his side of the story on Friday Slot – perhaps wisely – chose to stay quiet.

“What happened was the five minutes for extra time that ended up being eight happened a lot,” he said.
