No club knows this better than Liverpool after Jurgen Klopp witnessed his team beaten to the line by Man City on several occasions during his reign with the 2018/19 campaign being the cruellest.
Arsenal have struggled to create chances since and these issues have all but ended their Premier League dreams.
Liverpool are a club that have not suffered as many fitness issues as their rivals this season and Alan Shearer has praised some unsung heroes at the Merseyside club for contributing to the Reds’ success.

When it comes to key stars, Liverpool have luckily avoided any long-term injuries, which has played a big role in their success this season.
Cody Gakpo’s fitness issue was the latest regarding a player from the Reds’ best starting 11, while Liverpool have recently lost Conor Bradley and Joe Gomez is set to be out for a while longer.

Shearer thinks this has played a role in the title race and has given credit to Liverpool’s backroom staff for the effort they have put in to keep their stars healthy.
“You know what, we’ve spoken so many times this season about teams and their injuries, you’ve got to give great credit to the physios, doctors, sports scientists.
I know they got knocked out of the FA Cup a couple of weeks ago to Plymouth, but up until then, they’ve played every single week and they have not really had big injuries, have they to their big players?”
Every game between now and the end of the season grows in importance for Liverpool and in order to give some of his stars, Slot may have to rest the likes of Mohamed Salah in the Premier League.
This is not likely to go down well with the Merseyside club’s big names but they will understand, especially if it means being fresh for Champions League games.
Alisson has been the biggest injury worry for Liverpool this season as the Brazilian goalkeeper has missed 24 matches mostly due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the first half of the campaign.
In the backline, Trent Alexander-Arnold has only missed five games for club and country, while Ibrahima Konate missed eight towards the backend of last year.
The midfield at Liverpool has been very consistent throughout the 2024/25 campaign with only Dominik Szoboszlai missing two matches recently due to illness.
Other than that, the Merseyside club’s best front three have remained healthy.
This is quite impressive given the number of games and minutes Slot’s best 11 have played this season and Shearer is right in saying that the medical department deserves a lot of credit as they have certainly played a major role in the Reds’ success throughout the current campaign.
