Liverpool could well be looking for another option to add to their midfield over the summer transfer window.

The Reds were actively attempting to bolster their squad in 2024, with Martin Zubimendi highlighted as the ideal profile for Arne Slot.

Having missed out on Zubimendi, Ryan Gravenberch has stepped up and shone in the Liverpool midfield to ease worries over a mistake in the transfer window.

Despite Gravenberch’s continued brilliance, though, Slot is still likely to want a rotational player who can come in and do a similar job when the Dutch midfielder needs a rest.

To many, that player can be Stefan Bajcetic.

Bajcetic looked for all the world to be someone who could be a big part of the Liverpool squad after breaking through in 2022.

However, injuries have hampered his development in a big way.

But after joining La Liga side Las Palmas on-loan for the second half of the season, Bajcetic has wasted no time proving to the world that he still has the quality to make it at Liverpool.

Bajcetic’s reputation has plummeted this season after failing to make it stick at RB Salzburg.

Experts at developing top young talent, Salzburg had looked like a good place for the 20-year-old to regain his match fitness and continue his progress.

However, after growing unhappy at the Austrian club, Bajcetic joined Las Palmas, heading back to Spanish football for the first time since leaving Celta Vigo for Liverpool in 2021.

Although his move was only made official last Friday, Bajcetic was already in the squad for Monday’s clash with Girona, and came off the bench to play the final 25 minutes.

He could quite easily have sat it out at Salzburg for the rest of the season.

However, determined to play at the right club, Bajcetic pushed to get his move back to La Liga and is clearly already flourishing.

From a Liverpool perspective, this is obviously good news.

The more football Bajcetic can play, the more likely he is to return as a genuine option for Slot.

Having impressed the local journalists in one, short appearance, the hope will be that the Liverpool man can now force himself into the starting line-up.

Las Palmas’ next game comes on Saturday as they host Villarreal.
