Liverpool are said to be interested in signing Harry Kane this summer(Image: Getty Images)
Alan Shearer says it would be a no-brainer for Liverpool to pursue Harry Kane if the England captain does decide to head back to the Premier League in the summer - even if the striker would be highly likely to break his all-time Premier League goalscoring record.
Kane, 31, joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham last summer in a bid to win major trophies.
And the rumour mill has gone into overdrive after it was claimed by El Nacional that Liverpool would be shock contenders to sign Kane if he were to come back to England.
If Kane were to return to these shores, he would have Shearer's all-time Premier League goal record - which stands at 260 - in his sights - but that hasn't stopped Shearer from endorsing Liverpool's reported interest.

The Match of the Day pundit told Betfair: "Liverpool will be looking for a centre-forward in the summer, I don't doubt that and Harry Kane would be a great option for them because of the size of the club and he'll score goals.
"Whether Harry decides to stay in Germany or he decides to come back to the Premier League, he'll have options.
I've always said that if he comes back to the Premier League then he'll have a really, really good chance of breaking my record.
I'm a huge admirer of him."

While it remains to be seen if Kane will be on the move this summer, Liverpool will almost certainly seek a new No.9, with Darwin Nunez struggling in front of goal this term.
Arne Slot's side are still on course to win the Premier League title, though, with the rest of their forward line firing.
