Arne Slot is set to end his first season as Liverpool manager as a Premier League champion, a feat few supporters would have predicted last summer.
The former Feyenoord head coach has been a revelation for Liverpool since joining last year, with Slot evolving Jurgen Klopp’s final squad into one of the best in Europe and leading the Reds to a massive lead in the Premier League standings with seven games to go.
Although Liverpool lost on Sunday for the first time in the league since September, Slot remains on course to win the Premier League with plenty of games to spare, with Arsenal lacking the consistency to mount a serious comeback.
And former Liverpool star Harry Kewell has said this factor has been big for Slot in winning the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Australian football legend noted that Liverpool have been helped out greatly in the Premier League this season by the likes of Arsenal and Manchester City dropping off in form.
Both sides were neck-and-neck for the title last season, though this year has seen Mikel Arteta’s side hit badly with injuries, whilst City have been struck with an identity crisis that has led to their worst campaign in recent memory.

And for Kewell, these factors have helped Liverpool in their run to the Premier League title, with the former attacker saying when asked about his thoughts on Slot at Anfield: “Fantastic, I don’t think he could have wished for a better opportunity.
“I think it’s harsh for what I’m about to say, but it’s kinda help that Arsenal have had a terrible time, City have had a terrible time, Chelsea have not been up there, nobody’s really challenged them.
But, in saying that, he had a fantastic start to the season, and the way Liverpool played shows that they deserve to be exactly where they are.”
Liverpool fans will be kidding themselves if they refused to admit that the Reds haven’t had a bit of luck on their side this season in winning the Premier League, yet this unpredictable factor is one that every title winner has needed in recent years.
City only stormed ahead of Arsenal in the 2022/23 Premier League title race after the Gunners lost two starters through injury in William Saliba and Thomas Partey, whilst other famous winners in recent years, such as Chelsea under Antonio Conte or Leicester City, went the entire season without any major injuries.
Indeed, luck is needed to win the Premier League, and Liverpool were given the golden ticket this season, with the Reds managing to keep the bulk of their squad healthy whilst rival teams have struggled with the demands of modern football.
