Liverpool suffered their first Premier League loss of the year away to Fulham, ending a 25-match unbeaten run in the league.
A frantic 14-minute spell in the first-half saw the Cottagers score three times as the west London side blew Liverpool apart to secure a famous win, with the Reds now only 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League after Arsenal’s draw away to Everton.
With the likes of Mohamed Salah being criticised for their performance for Liverpool against Fulham, it was a game where few players turned up for the Reds, with Arne Slot’s side now losing three of their last four games in all competitions.
And Paul Scholes has now hit out at Virgil van Dijk after what the Manchester United legend saw from the Liverpool captain.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, the pundit was critical of Van Dijk’s post-match comments after Liverpool’s defeat against Fulham, with Scholes accusing the defender of showing ‘arrogance’ about the performance and the result.
The Dutch international’s form has come into question since the Premier League returned last week with Slot backing Van Dijk’s record this season to speak for itself, with the defender one of Liverpool’s most important players.

And Scholes has not been impressed with what he’s seen from Van Dijk, with the pundot saying: “I think he has to look at himself.
We’ve lauded him for the last three or four years as one of the best Premier League central defenders ever, but this form starts with the captain, he needs to take a bit of responsibility.”
Van Dijk has been ever-present for Liverpool this season with the Dutch international once again establishing himself as arguably the best defender in the world based on his Premier League performances.
However, since the return of league action, the Liverpool captain is clearly not at his best, with Van Dijk slammed for his performance against Everton after struggling against striker Beto, who almost scored because of the Anfield centre-back’s poor display.
Indeed, Liverpool are still on track to wrap up the Premier League title at a comfortable pace, yet Van Dijk can’t allow his form to drop given how important the former Southampton man is to Slot’s system.
