Liverpool are approaching what could be their most crucial transfer window in years, as the squad requires significant reinforcements across multiple positions.
Adding to the urgency is the expected departure of vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, who is reportedly set to join Real Madrid when his contract expires on June 30
With several contracts nearing their end and key areas in need of strengthening, sporting director Richard Hughes faces a demanding summer ahead.
And according to recent reports from Italy, Juventus strategists are actively maneuvering to draw the Reds into a high-stakes negotiation for fullback Andrea Cambiaso—a move that could escalate tensions with long-term suitors Manchester City.

Manchester City’s pursuit of Cambiaso reached an advanced stage during the January window, with the Premier League champions agreeing to a €60 million (£49.9 million) fee with Juventus and securing provisional personal terms with the player on a five-year contract.
However, financial fair play (FFP) constraints and a prioritization of Porto’s Nico Gonzalez forced City to postpone the deal, leaving Juventus in need of alternative buyers.
Pep Guardiola’s admiration for the 25-year-old remains undiminished, with the City manager reportedly valuing Cambiaso’s two-footed versatility and tactical adaptability—traits that align with his system’s demand for dynamic fullbacks.
Despite the winter setback, Etihad officials have maintained dialogue with Juventus, anticipating renewed negotiations this summer.
Juventus’ financial predicament has intensified following Thiago Motta’s dismissal, which incurred substantial compensation costs and exposed shortfall in their 2025 budgetary projections
“The sale of Cambiaso isn’t just desirable—it’s financially imperative,” a Turin-based analyst told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Liverpool’s involvement could inflate his price beyond €70 million, providing Juventus crucial liquidity”
And while a transfer tug-of-war may have been anticipated in the summer, Cambiaso’s agent – Giovanni Bia – has sensationally come out to quash any of these reports while also revealing he is aware of any Trent Alexander-Arnold implications:
“He is absolutely focused on Juventus,” he said to Tuttomercatoweb.
“It is normal that there are these sirens being one of the strongest full backs in Europe.
There are a few movements around, for example Alexander-Arnold seems like he could go to Real Madrid but in general there are various situations that could change.”
“At the moment he is not interested in anything, his goal is Juventus and to do very well there?
He is absolutely happy at Juventus; he has always said it in a thousand ways and in a thousand places.”
Bia added that his client sees his future in Turin and wants to return the Old Lady back to their prestigious standing:
“His dream is to bring Juventus back to great levels, to play for Juventus and to have a great career at Juventus, helping the club to return to winning ways on a par with the European big clubs.
“But I have no doubt that within one or two years he will do it.”
