Liverpool are basking in the glory of what was a terrific win over Manchester City on Sunday.

The Reds put themselves 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League after ending an almost ten-year wait for a victory at the Etihad Stadium.

There were so many standout performers on the day for Liverpool, with Mohamed Salah breaking yet more records with a goal and an assist.

Dominik Szoboszlai was another outstanding performer, matching Salah’s contribution and delivering in the final third.

One who perhaps went under the radar was Alexis Mac Allister, who kept things ticking as ever in the middle of the Liverpool midfield.

But, speaking after the game, Mac Allister seemed happy to let others take the spotlight, highlighting Szoboszlai in particular as being an important player for the Reds.

Given how good Salah was, Szoboszlai’s performance against City may have gone under the radar a little.

But the 24-year-old was just as important as the Egyptian in Sunday’s win.

If some don’t always see what Szoboszlai gives to this Liverpool team, then his teammates certainly do.

Andy Robertson heaped praise on Szoboszlai after the game, while in quotes from The Athletic, Mac Allister made sure to do the same.

“Dom is so important for us,” said the Argentine.

“I think you could see physically that he is really good.

He can score, he can assist and he is doing really well.”

“We have really good midfielders who came to the club around the same time as me.

We are complementing each other really well and we are so happy to play with each other.”

After getting through so much work during the game, Szoboszlai was clearly exhausted at the final whistle.

The Hungarian was seen lying flat out on the turf while the celebrations started up around him.

And according to The Athletic, the first man to congratulate Szoboszlai when he finally picked himself up was Man City manager Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola is said to have headed over to Liverpool’s No.8 and shook his hand.

The Spaniard was no doubt impressed by what he’d seen.

If Szoboszlai can keep up this kind of form, he’s going to leave plenty of other Premier League managers in awe before he’s through.
