Liverpool endured a quiet summer transfer window but still have half a month to fine-tune their squad in January.

Arne Slot has made a massive impact at Anfield since taking over the reigns from Jurgen Klopp and has given the Reds a fantastic chance to win some silverware in 2025.

Federico Chiesa was the only player who walked through the door at Anfield, although an agreement in principle was reached to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia in the summer of 2025.

And now, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Chiesa’s situation after his first six months at Anfield.

Over the years, Liverpool have always been on the lookout for market opportunities and have pounced when the situation called for it.

The same could be said for Chiesa, who was in the last six months of his contract at Juventus in the summer transfer window.

The Italian was also frozen out of the squad by Thiago Motta, who confirmed that Chiesa was out of his project due to tactical reasons.

Liverpool snapped him up in the dying embers of the transfer window, but it hasn’t been plain sailing for the 27-year-old at Anfield.

Chiesa has struggled to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League and had a few injury concerns to deal with.

While he has returned to full fitness in recent weeks, speculation surrounding his future have dominated the back pages.

Napoli have been linked with a move for Chiesa, with the Serie A giants on the lookout for a winger as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is edging closer to joining PSG.

But Romano says Chiesa has no intention of leaving Liverpool as he looks set to make an impression in the upcoming months.

“In public Federico Chiesa’s agent spoke in recent days,” said Romano on his YouTube channel.

“In private, I can guarantee that the feeling of the player, his camp and those close to Chiesa is that he wants to stay at Liverpool.

“Fight for his place at Liverpool, especially in the second half of the season where he hopes to be in good condition to make an impact.”

Earlier this month, Chiesa’s agent confirmed that his client has no intention of leaving Liverpool despite his initial struggles at Anfield.

And now, Romano has added value to those claims, pouring cold water over suggestions that his Liverpool future is in danger.

The Reds usually don’t give up on players within six months and always knew Chiesa would take his time to get going at the club.

He finally scored his first Liverpool goal in the 4-0 win against Accrington Stanley and will look to build on it in the coming weeks.

Liverpool are still alive in all competitions and with Chiesa now back to full fitness, he could add another dimension to their attack as games prepare to come thick and fast at the business end of the season.
