It looks likely to be a big summer for Liverpool as they aim to add more quality to what they hope will be a Premier League winning squad.
The Reds have been superb for much of the campaign and are set to end it with silverware.
However, it has also become clear that while the Liverpool squad is in good shape, there are a number of tweaks which need employing in the transfer market.
One of those is at left-back, where Andy Robertson has come under scrutiny for a perceived drop-off throughout the season.
With Kostas Tsimikas likely to leave, Arne Slot is seemingly on the hunt for a new starter at left full-back.
And according to journalist David Ornstein, Liverpool had two very high-profile players on their radar for the summer.

Liverpool got a glimpse of what a top class left-back can do for your team on Tuesday, when Paris Saint Germain defender Nuno Mendes played a blinder against Mohamed Salah.
Mendes was good in the first-leg, too, although he did allow Harvey Elliott to run off him and score the winning goal in Paris.

Nevertheless, at 22, the Portugal international clearly has his best years ahead of him.
And responding to fan questions for The Athletic, Ornstein says Liverpool were keen on Mendes before he signed a new contract with PSG in February.

“They will have a shortlist or potential targets, obviously,” said the transfer expert when asked about Liverpool’s plans at left-back.
“The likes of Nuno Mendes and Alphonso Davies were highly thought of at Anfield but both have now signed new contracts.”
While Mendes or Davies would have been superb signings, neither ever felt realistic for Liverpool.
Instead, Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez now appears to be a front-runner.
According to Ornstein, though, Kerkez – although high on Liverpool’s shortlist – may ultimately prove to be too costly for the Reds.
“Kerkez was and remains a strong option, who Bournemouth will be open to doing business for if their financial expectations are met,” he says.
“This one definitely stands a chance but the price is likely to be above what Liverpool would normally pay for a full-back – plus I’m sure like they will have other options, he will have multiple suitors – so we’ll have to see how it develops.
