Mohamed Salah has revealed why he cannot be compared with Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
Salah and Haaland are presently battling for the Premier League Golden Boot, with the Egyptian currently leading the scoring charts.
The Liverpool forward has scored 24 times, five more than Haaland in second place.
He also leads the assists charts in the Premier League, making him the most productive player in Europe’s top five leagues this season.
While this is arguably Salah’s most impressive season at Liverpool, there is no denying that the winger has been consistent since he joined the club in 2017.
He has distinguished himself as a top goalscorer, smashing various goal-scoring and assists records along the way.
Ahead of Manchester City’s meeting with Liverpool at the Etihad on Sunday, Salah was asked about comparisons with Erling Haaland, who has equally enjoyed a productive spell in front of goal since he joined Man City.
What Mohamed Salah said about Erling Haaland comparison
Salah told Sky Sports Germany that although he respects Haaland, he believes the striker’s life is easier than his.
“No, I respect him a lot,” Salah said when asked about comparison with Haaland.
“We may have only spoken once after the last game.
But he’s a striker, so his life is easier.
But his life is easy because he plays as a striker.
Any winger can tell you that.
“That’s why I see it differently between us because he’s a striker, and I’m a winger.”
