Mohamed Salah’s contract saga is finally over with the Liverpool winger putting pen to paper on a new deal last week.

The Egyptian international will remain a Red until 2027 with Salah agreeing to a two-year contract extension with the Anfield side, with Virgil van Dijk teasing that he could sign a new deal with Liverpool this week.

Although Trent Alexander-Arnold is expected to join Real Madrid, Liverpool tying Salah down to a new deal after one of the best seasons in Premier League history is nothing short of huge for the Merseyside giants.

And Gary Neville has now ranked where Salah sits amongst the best players in Premier League history after signing his new contract.

Speaking on NBC Sports coverage of Sunday’s win against West Ham, the former Manchester United captain placed Salah alongside the best of the best in the Premier League, such as Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and Wayne Rooney.

With Salah breaking the record for the most goal contributions in a single Premier League season, the 32-year-old winger is simply on top of the world at the moment with Liverpool, and the winger deserves a spot amongst the best the league has ever seen.

Neville said: “We talk a lot about loyalty not existing in the game as much anymore, but you look at what Salah has done and he could have left at different points in his Liverpool career and he hasn’t done, so well done to him for that.

“He’s right up there with the likes of Henry, Ronaldo, Rooney, Shearer, Kane, his numbers are up there with them, he’s done it for such a long time, and whilst he might not get the same glamour as those players or the headlines, he deserves them.”

One of Liverpool’s all-time leading goalscorers and currently one goal away from becoming the all-time leading non-English goalscorer in the Premier League, it’s safe to say that Salah’s legacy in the United Kingdom is more than assured.

The former AS Roma man has been a revelation since returning to the Premier League with Liverpool, with Salah breaking records at an almost weekly rate having led the Reds to virtually every trophy there is to win, with a second league title on the cards this season.

Although Salah is unlikely to break Shearer’s all-time Premier League scoring record between now and 2027, the winger could easily call time on his career with Liverpool as the second-highest scorer, with the forward 29 goals off Harry Kane’s tally of 213.
