Sturridge also terrorised defences that season, with 22 goals of his own – leaving Jonny Evans to admit he hated playing against the Liverpool pairing.

Exactly eleven years ago to the day, Sturridge’s goal against Swansea City meant the Reds pair became the first Liverpool partnership since 1964 to both bag at least 20 league goals in a single season.
