Mohamed Salah has revealed how his family helped make the decision to remain at Anfield, with one of his daughters in particular especially delighted to remain in the city of Liverpool.
The Egyptian has solidified his Anfield legacy by signing a two-year contract extension and will remain central to the Reds’ pursuit of domestic and European glory for the foreseeable future – to the relief of Reds fans around the globe.
Salah’s new contract reportedly includes a fixed weekly wage of £400,000, a 12.5% increase from his previous £350,000-a-week deal, with performance-based bonuses potentially elevating his earnings to £480,000 weekly.
This positions him as the second-highest earner in the Premier League, trailing only Manchester City’s Erling Haaland.
The agreement reflects Liverpool’s recognition of Salah’s irreplaceable contributions: 243 goals and 109 assists in 394 appearances, including 32 goals this season alone.
But speaking to club media after sealing the deal, the 32-year-old revealed just how much his family wants to remain on Merseyside.
Childhood sweetheart and wife Magi Sadeq and especially 10-year-old daughter Makka were influential in his decision:
“They feel at home.
It feels like home so everyone was happy,” Salah said to liverpoolfc.com.
“I think Makka was the happiest one in the family, she wanted us to stay.”
“Of course, we all wanted to stay but Makka because her friends are here and the school.
I have a great relationship with everyone here.”
At 32, Salah’s renewed contract positions him to surpass Ian Rush’s all-time Liverpool scoring record (346 goals) – although be a big challenge.
His leadership role could expand, with speculation that he could assume the vice-captaincy should Alexander-Arnold’s exit become a reality.
For Liverpool, the deal is a statement of intent?
Retaining Salah amid Saudi interest demonstrates their ability to compete financially while maintaining a cohesive project under Slot.
