Liverpool look likely to be in the market for a new midfielder during the summer transfer window.
The Reds took a long hard look at improving the middle of the pitch last year but ultimately chose to go with what they had.
For the most part, that has proven to be a good decision.
However, over recent weeks, the lack of rotational options within the Liverpool squad has taken a toll.
Ryan Gravenberch has picked up an injury after being played into the ground by Arne Slot and it’s fair to say that the same cannot be allowed to happen next season.
For that to happen, Slot is going to need to add a player who he trusts more than Wataru Endo to rotate with Gravenberch.
And according to Spanish journalist Manuel Garcia, the ideal player is waiting to join Slot’s project at Liverpool this summer.

The longer the season has gone on, the more it has looked like a mistake for Slot to loan out Stefan Bajcetic last summer.
Bajcetic has had a difficult time with injuries over the past two years, but is exactly the kind of profile who could be of use to the Liverpool head coach in giving Gravenberch time off.

Since joining them in January, Bajcetic has been doing well with Las Palmas in La Liga.
“Because of how he drives the ball and how he moves around the field.”

The Mail also carry quotes from one Las Palmas fan, who fleshes out why the 20-year-old has been such a hit in the Canary Islands.
“Stefan definitely stands out from others,” they say.
He is our star and every Las Palmas supporter would love to have him here for as long as it’s possible.”
While some supporters would prefer Liverpool to buy another midfielder this summer, there is also an argument that the timing could not be better for Bajcetic to get his chance.
The youngster is clearly very talented.
Had he not been beset by injuries, there’s a real chance that Bajcetic could have been an established starter by the time Slot arrived.
A year spent away at two different clubs should have sharpened Bajcetic’s focus and ensured that his match fitness has returned.
Just as he did last year, it’s likely that Slot will take a look at his young players during pre-season before making a decision on what to do with them or in the transfer market.
Bajcetic is certain to get his chance once pre-season comes around.
If he can take it and show some of these Busquets-like qualities, then surely he’ll be back on track at Liverpool next year.
