It is nearing a month since Arne Slot officially commenced his tenure as the Liverpool manager.

In that time, the Dutchman has already sat down with the club for his first official interview in his new role, and has also been in constant communication with Richard Hughes as he revealed.

Another aspect that Arne Slot has likely been busy with is planning the upcoming 2024/25 pre-season.

While pre-season is important ahead of any campaign, it is especially integral for the 45-year-old manager who is working with the Liverpool squad for the very first time.

It has already been reported that Slot brough forward the traditional start of pre-season by a week to help acclimtaise.

The squad will reconvene in the first week of July instead, which means of course that many players will still be representing their nations.

After the opening week at AXA, the squad will travel to the USA for the start of the pre-season tour according to the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool have 10 players at Euro 2024, while also having four players at Copa America.

With many of the Reds representing countries that are expected to go far in the respective tournaments, Slot could face a bit of a headache in that regard.

How many senior players could be missing from Arne Slot’s opening pre-season week?

In an ideal scenario, there would be no summer tournaments to disrupt the Arne Slot – Jurgen Klopp handover.

Alexis Mac Allister was in fine form for his country against Chile last night, helping La Celeste to a 1-0 win to secure a quarter-final berth.

The Copa America quarter-finals only start on 5th July, so the 25-year-old is for sure going to miss the start of pre-season.

Argentina are one of the favourites for the competition, and should they make the final, Mac Allister will remain with his nation until after the 15 of July.

Darwin Nunez and Uruguay won their opening game against Panama and are expected to qualify from a Group C containing USA and Bolivia.

Uruguay will play either Luis Diaz’s Colombia or Alisson Becker’s Brazil in the quarterfinals on July 6.

It is certain that at least one of the three teams will advance to the Copa America semifinals?

Participation will take place on July 9 and 10, coinciding with the opening of the US tour.

As we can see, a few of the South American boys may be arriving late to the USA Tour – with the first friendly against Real Betis at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on Friday July 26 (kick-off 7.30pm EST).

Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez are set to face the Liverpool Dutchmen after Netherlands finished third in their Group D in the round of 16 next week Friday/Saturday.

It is important to note that the Liverpool players will typically be granted three weeks holiday after their summer tournaments.

So, we can now start to see that many senior Liverpool players will be joining late in pre-season – and some are at risk of missing most of Arne Slot’s first interactions with the squad.
