Although Liverpool have started the season well, there are still improvements that can be made to Arne Slot’s squad.
The Reds sit top of the Premier League after a blistering start under their new head coach.
But having largely stayed quiet during the summer transfer window, Liverpool are just an injury or two away from looking a little too depleted.
Midfield and centre-back are the two areas of the Liverpool squad which are most widely expected to be bolstered either in January or next summer.
However, with Andy Robertson struggling at times this term, it has also become clear that the Reds will soon need a new first-choice left-back.
And according to journalist Graeme Bailey, there are three names currently looming largest of all in that particular search.

Robertson is locked in a battle with Kostas Tsimikas for who will be Liverpool’s starting left-back under Slot.
The Greek began Saturday’s Premier League game against Brighton and it will be fascinating to see who the Liverpool head coach picks against Bayer Leverkusen and then Aston Villa.

In the meantime, though, Bailey has exclusively told Rousing The Kop that Rayan Ait Nouri of Wolves and Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez continue to feature right at the top of Liverpool’s transfer shortlist.
“I am told that Liverpool think the left side of the defence is one of the weakest parts of the squad,” says the transfer expert.

“Milos Kerkez is someone they’ve looked at, Rayan Ait Nouri is someone they’re doing work on, too.
They’re keeping abreast of what they need to do and they know at some point they’ll need a new left-back.”
Bailey also says that Ajax youngster Jorrel Hato is another left-sided player who Liverpool are actively gathering data on.
“Ait Nouri and Kerkez are being looked at closely and I know they’ve been looking at Jorrel Hato, they’ve been at Ajax games recently,” he reports.
But I’m not saying it’s only those three because they are doing their due diligence on all these left-sided defenders.”
Any of these three players would look like interesting and capable additions for Liverpool.
Kerkez underlined why Liverpool want to sign him with two assists as Bournemouth beat Man City on Saturday, while Ait Nouri has been showing his class at Wolves for years.
Meanwhile, Hato is another quality option.
The 18-year-old has already broken through as a regular at Ajax and according to Bailey, it could be that he is on Liverpool’s radar as both a centre-back and a left-back.
“They know they need another centre-half and ideally it will be a left sider,” says the reporter.
Jorell Hato is an interesting one too because he’s been playing a lot at left-back for Ajax but sources in Holland think he’ll end up at centre-half.”
