There has been a lot of talk about loyalty at Liverpool Football Club over the past several weeks.

As one of the most passionate clubs in England, Reds supporters like to believe the players representing them feel exactly as they do about their team.

With local boy Trent Alexander-Arnold on the verge of a move to Real Madrid, though, that has been once again called into question.

Posters aimed at Alexander-Arnold were stuck up around the Anfield area ahead of Wednesday’s Merseyside Derby, as fans urge the Scouser not to turn his back on his boyhood club.

Trent has perhaps not been helped by the fact that some of his teammates appear to have the exact attitude and application he is seen to be lacking.

Possibly the best example of this is Wataru Endo, who is clearly doing everything within his power to be a success at Liverpool.

Fans recognise how much it means to Endo to be finally at a club like Liverpool aged 32, and his brother, Satoru, has now admitted that seeing his sibling turn out for the Reds means just as much to him as well.

“It has been some time since my brother started playing for Liverpool and became captain of the Japanese national team so it has become the norm for me today,” he told The Wataru Endo Podcast.

“But being captain of the national team is not something that everyone can become and playing with Liverpool as well.

“It was very amazing for me to see my brother playing in such a big club and incredible atmosphere.

I can’t describe exactly that moment in words.”

Given how little he has featured this season, there have been suggestions that Endo is ready to leave Liverpool this summer.

However, any move for the midfielder would now be a step down.

He could get more playing time elsewhere, but it won’t be at a club like Liverpool.

As a result, Endo’s situation is a fascinating one heading into the transfer window.

After deciding he did not fancy the Japan captain last year, Slot has warmed up to Endo and he clearly has a part to play in the Liverpool squad.

It clearly means the world to Endo and his family to see him playing for Liverpool, and that’s the kind of player you want around as long as possible.
