The Reds are now 13 points clear at the summit and require just six points from their final six games to claim a record-equalling 20th crown after a dramatic 2-1 win at home to West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

Virgil van Dijk headed an 89th-minute winner from Alexis Mac Allister’s corner just moments after a calamitous Andy Robertson own goal had wiped out Luis Diaz's early opener.

Should Arsenal lose at Ipswich Town next Sunday, Liverpool will be champions with victory at Leicester City later in the day.

Otherwise, the Reds may have to wait until their next home game against Tottenham Hotspur for an opportunity to secure the title.

But Slot said: “I don’t care where we win it.

We know we have to win two more games, which has been on 32 occasions difficult enough for us.

“First win two and that is the only thing we should focus on, and each week try to improve more and more to give us a better chance to win a game next week against Leicester.

“Everybody can talk (about Leicester) but what I saw is for the first time in 11 games Leicester scored two goals and got a result (2-2 at Brighton on Saturday).

They probably have a bit more confidence going into our game now.

“We have shown in the last 32 games there have only been two or three wins that were quite comfortable.

That is our only focus – winning a game of football.”

Slot stayed out on the pitch for longer than usual after the final whistle and later admitted it was a deliberate decision to salute the backing of the supporters during the closing stages.

“Yes, and also because we won a game of football for the first time season where you could debate if we deserved to win the game,” he said.

“To win it with such a big moment where the fans helped us, that’s why I tried to show a bit more why I appreciate them through the whole season but definitely today.”

Liverpool were indebted to a number of outstanding saves from Alisson Becker, who twice denied Mohammed Kudus and also saved when one-on-one with Jarrod Bowen.

And Slot said: “It was a big relief.

Unfortunately they scored one which they didn’t score, but we scored (for them).

“To me it felt after West Ham scored, the way the second half went it was maybe we could expect more them scoring but our fans and our players thought differently.

"From the moment they scored the 1-1 we started playing again, we started pressing again, and the fans were really loud at that moment in time.
