Liverpool’s next Premier League adventure is a trip to St Mary’s to take on Southampton, who are languishing at the bottom of the league table.
The two sides are separated by 24 points in the league table but the Reds will look to be on their toes and keep up their winning momentum as they find themselves five points clear of second-placed Manchester City.
Liverpool host Pep Guardiola’s side at Anfield next and will look to head into that game with their lead still intact, while they also have the small matter of a UEFA Champions League clash against Real Madrid in midweek.
And Paul Merson feels the Reds will get a routine win on their travels to compound Southampton’s misery.

Liverpool have dropped points just twice in the Premier League this season – losing against Nottingham Forest and drawing against Arsenal – and will look to get three more points away from home.
As for Russell Martin’s side, they’ve played some good football and gone toe-to-toe against some of the best teams in the league, but they don’t have the points to show for their efforts.
Merson feels a routine Liverpool win is on the cards as he predicted a 3-0 win for the away side.

“I can’t see anything but a Liverpool win here,” wrote Merson in his column for Sportskeeda.
“The only game they lost this season was after the international break in September, but I doubt that will happen again.
“I can’t see Southampton passing the ball around like they do for 90 minutes and not shoot themselves on the foot.
“I have a feeling Southampton will score though.
If Liverpool can take their chances, it could become a rout!”
Chris Sutton also predicted an easy win for Liverpool against Southampton as he backed the Reds to win 2-0.
If Liverpool win their next three games in all competitions, they could confirm their place in the Round of 16 of the Champions League and also be eight points clear of Manchester City in the Premier League.
The Liverpool fans are already excited about potentially enjoying a historic season, If that were to happen, expectations will naturally rise at Anfield.
With a handful of key players like Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott on the comeback trail after long-term injuries, things are slowly falling into place for Liverpool to make their presence felt during the festive run-in.
