Liverpool supporters can finally relax a little on Saturday after seeing Mohamed Salah put pen to paper on a new contract.

Salah has been involved in a will-he-won’t-he saga with the Reds for almost the full season, casting a slight pall over what has otherwise been a stellar campaign.

But although at one stage the Egyptian declared himself to be ‘more out than in,’ he has ultimately extended his stay at Anfield.

As Rousing The Kop exclusively revealed on Friday, Salah could stay at Liverpool for three more years, with an option for an extra 12 months included in his two-year contract.

Throughout the saga, former Reds centre-back Jamie Carragher has been a vocal commentator on matters regarding Salah.

Carragher caused controversy by branding Salah ‘selfish‘ after some of his more pointed public comments in November, but after the deal was tied up on Friday, the pundit made a new request of Mo.

Carragher is never too far away from the spotlight where Liverpool are concerned.

And in his reaction to Salah’s new deal for The Telegraph, he has done exactly that.

After declaring that the 32-year-old would have been ‘ridiculous’ to reject a contract and leave Liverpool for Saudi Arabia, Carragher requested an appearance from Salah alongside him on Sky Sports Monday Night Football.

“There is one final request with regards Salah on behalf of all of us who have loved every second of his Anfield career,” said the 47-year-old, intriguingly.

“I hope signing his contract does not mean that’s the end of his media interviews until the next round of negotiations are due!

“Can I book you in for Monday Night Football, Mo?”

After Carragher spoke out to call Salah selfish earlier in the season, Mo memorably hit back on social media, claiming he was beginning to think the former player was ‘obsessed’ with him.

As a result, anything Carragher does or says regarding Salah is often dissected and – at times – completely taken the wrong way.

However, he is always quick to praise the superstar where he sees fit, and does so again here, claiming Liverpool ‘will not find a better attacker than Salah this summer.’

Carragher also praises the handling of the situation by Liverpool, suggesting criticism aimed at sporting director Richard Hughes was not fair.

“Throughout the process, most of the criticism has been directed at Liverpool and their new sporting director, Richard Hughes, for not resolving such a critical issue sooner.
