Tuesday marked another landmark in Liverpool’s evolution under Arne Slot.
The Reds have come a long way in a short period of time under the Dutch coach following his appointment over the summer.
But all the while, the spectre of Jurgen Klopp remained slightly at Anfield.
Having left Liverpool to enjoy a bit of a sabbatical, Klopp was out of work and simply making the most of his time off.
On Tuesday, that changed, as the 57-year-old was officially presented to the press as Red Bull’s new Head of Soccer in Salzburg.
In front of reporters for the first time since his Liverpool farewell in May, Klopp was inevitably asked about the future of former player Mohamed Salah.

It was a slight surprise to see Klopp join Red Bull this January.
Some had perhaps expected the German to take longer away from the game.
Klopp drew criticism in Germany as well for his choice of employer, with the energy drink franchise seen as being an evil within the game in Jurgen’s home country.

Nevertheless, from a Liverpool point of view, it’s simply nice to see the boss again.
And according to journalist Dominic King on X, Klopp praised Salah effusively when asked if he thinks the Egyptian will stay at Anfield beyond this season.

“I hope he stays,” says the legendary manager.
“A fantastic player, a fantastic professional.
The best ambassador Egypt could have.”
It was fantastic to see Klopp looking so well while speaking during his unveiling in Salzburg.
That’s a clear commitment,” journalist Florian Plettenberg quotes Klopp as saying.
“But I can’t say I will never be a coach again in my life.”
For many, that is likely to come at the German national team.
But maybe if Liverpool are ever in need we’ll see Jurgen back on the touchline at Anfield.
