Arne Slot has revealed he is aware where Liverpool needs to strengthen next summer and hinted plans are already in place to make additions in the transfer market.
The Dutchman has made just one addition since becoming Liverpool manager, although Federico Chiesa is yet to start a Premier League game since his arrival last summer from Juventus.
Liverpool earned some criticism for not making any significant signings over the last two windows, although Slot has always insisted he is happy with his squad.
Jamie Carragher has repeatedly called for a new left-back, Darwin Nunez’s future looks uncertain as Liverpool is linked with no.9s, while a midfielder has always been on the horizon for Slot after last summer’s failed attempt to land Martin Zubimendi.
“We are looking at every single position and we are looking at the team,” said Slot
“We said this many times last summer, we didn't do a lot because we – Richard [Hughes, Liverpool’s sporting director], me and all the other people involved – just wanted to know how these players were working with me, the different manager.
“Now we have a very good idea about that, and I think it's clear to you that I'm not going to tell you which positions we prefer, but it is clear that we've assessed the squad, we've assessed what we think where we can improve, and that's where we try to go for in the summer.”
There are, of course, three major transfer decisions hanging over Liverpool with the futures of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah still unresolved
The trio could all still leave for free at the end of the season and that would inevitably alter the club’s plans in the summer window.
“It's quite an important two or three months to go,” said Slot
