Former Everton, Manchester United, and Sunderland manager David Moyes revealed that he was on the precipice of bringing Andy Robertson to the Black Cats before he eventually signed with Liverpool in 2017.
Despite a dismal season, Moyes stated his intentions to stay with the club though he resigned soon after the 2016-17 season ended, the first time a club he led was relegated.
Even though the Black Cats did not fare well that season, Moyes still kept his eyes on potential difference-makers, with Robertson being one of them.
"Andy Robertson, if you remember, left Scotland, Queen's Park, to go to Hull City," Moyes began during an appearance on 'The Overlap' podcast.

At the time of his arrival, Robertson called the opportunity to play for Liverpool "surreal." "There are not more special clubs than Liverpool," he said in 2017.
Andy Robertson was targetted by David Moyes while the latter was at Sunderland.
"You have to go into a programme where you’ve missed the base tactically when it comes to us [a new management team], and physically as well."
