Liverpool have had themselves a fantastic couple of weeks as they take charge of the Premier League title race.
The Reds’ February had the potential to make or break their season, with five tricky fixtures coming in quick succession.
Thankfully, Liverpool rose to the challenge, and with Arsenal wilting, they look destined to lift the Premier League trophy in May.
The closer that last game of the season at Anfield gets, though, the more we move towards possible exits for Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
With so little time remaining on the trio’s contracts, they could each play their last game for Liverpool in less than three months.
According to journalist James Pearce, though, Salah himself may have just provided a ‘positive’ update to suggest that won’t be the case for him.

Salah has been the outstanding player in the Premier League and potentially in the whole of Europe this season.
It seems inconceivable that he could leave Liverpool while still on top of his game.
Nevertheless, with nothing yet signed in terms of a contract extension, that’s currently where we’re headed.

Speaking on the Walk On podcast on Thursday, though, Pearce claimed that Salah’s recent interview with former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman provided a ‘positive’ update in his eyes.
“I saw Mo Salah’s chat with Steve McManaman for TNT Sports and McManaman asked him about his contract situation,” said the journalist.

“The fact that Salah actually said, I think the quote was ‘in a polite way, no update’, which I actually think is positive news.
“Because if you think back six, seven weeks ago a couple of times in quick succession when Mo did media he basically said ‘it’s not even close, there’s been no progress’ it was quite sort of confrontational and ‘oh, blimey,’.
So, I took that as a positive.”
“As we’ve said before, Salah’s got a straight choice between the Saudi Pro League and rewriting the record books in the Premier League and at Anfield and does anyone at the minute seriously think he looks like someone who’s ready to walk away from elite football?” posed the journalist.
“Until his signature is on that dotted line there’s always going to be that uncertainty and fear but I’m still optimistic and I’m hearing the same with Van Dijk.”
As well as issuing this timely update on Salah, Pearce also went on to give an update on Alexander-Arnold.
Real Madrid are pushing to sign Trent and given the radio silence surrounding the right-back, many fans are now expecting him to leave this summer.
According to Pearce, however, there is still hope that Alexander-Arnold stays at his boyhood club.
“The Trent one, again I don’t think it’s any different in terms of just because it’s gone quiet, I don’t think that means that the likelihood of him going to Real Madrid has been reduced,” he said.
