Fabrizio Romano has provided fresh updates on Liverpool’s summer transfer plans after the news about Trent Alexander-Arnold and Real Madrid.
By now, Liverpool fans should be tired of endless reports about the club’s vice-captain’s imminent move to the Spanish club.
News broke on Tuesday that Alexander-Arnold was Madrid-bound, with the 26-year-old reportedly close to signing a five-year deal at the Bernabeu.
His imminent move away from the club has added more intrigue to what is expected to be a busy summer transfer window for Liverpool.
Arne Slot plans to make a few additions to his squad this summer, and Alexander-Arnold’s expected move means that the club could potentially sign a new right-back when the window opens.
Speaking about Liverpool’s transfer plans for the right-back position in light of Alexander-Arnold’s expected departure, football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reaffirmed the club’s desire to show faith in Conor Bradley.
The journalist had earlier revealed that Slot is a huge fan of the Northern Irishman and sees him as a player who could be a solution at right back for many years.
“In terms of right-back, what I’m hearing is that they are very happy with Conor Bradley,” Romano said on Tuesday.
“They believe that Conor Bradley can be part of this future Liverpool squad.
They believe he’s a huge talent.
“The responsibility of being the starting right-back at Liverpool is going to be completely different, but they feel this boy has everything in place in order to become an important player for Arne Slot.
“I was there at Anfield, Liverpool-Real Madrid game in November, I think, November, December, I don’t remember.
There was a tackle from Conor Bradley, and the reaction from the crowd, the reaction from Anfield, I think, was the perfect start of a new story.
“That moment shows how Liverpool as a club, but also as a fan base, is ready to trust this boy, is ready to trust Conor Bradley.
Then let’s see what they do on the market, but Conor Bradley internally is considered the next big thing at right-back, and they fully trust him for the future.”
Romano was again asked on Thursday what he knows about Liverpool’s plans to sign a right-back this summer, and he reiterated that the club trusts Bradley, before highlighting aspects of the squad he knows the club are eager to fix.
“For Liverpool, it’s going to be an expensive, important and busy summer already in several positions,” he told GiveMeSport.
“I see them adding one left-back.
Midfield and the attacking department, with Darwin Nunez, who could leave.”
