Liverpool supporters will be grateful to get back to the football on Wednesday evening.
After a nightmare week which saw them exit the Champions League and lose the Carabao Cup final, the March international break has brought more pain for Reds fans.
Rather than results, though, the angst has been caused by speculation surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Over the last few days, it has become apparant that Alexander-Arnold will not be renewing his contract with Liverpool.
Instead, the right-back looks all set to join Real Madrid in a move which has caused uproar and anger amongst the Liverpool fanbase.
To add insult to injury, it has emerged that Madrid could look to sign Alexander-Arnold before his Reds contract ends on June 30th in order to play him in the Club World Cup this summer.
And as the reality of that prospect sets in, Liverpool’s stance on letting Trent go early has been suggested.

One of the biggest sources of upset for Liverpool fans over Alexander-Arnold’s exit is that the club will not get a transfer fee for his services.
Being just 26 and with years of action still ahead of him, it is not unreasonable to think the Scouser could fetch upwards of £70m or £80m in today’s market, at full price.

That they’ll get nothing for him is likely to rankle with the Liverpool owners even more than supporters on the terraces.
And, as a result, it is not a surprise to hear journalist Paul Gorst suggest that FSG would agree to letting Alexander-Arnold join Real Madrid for the Club World Cup if they receive a fee to terminate his contract early.

“I think Liverpool would probably accept that to be fair just to get something down on the books,” Gorst tells The Redmen TV.
“The difference of leaving on the 1st of June as opposed to the 30th of June is immaterial, Liverpool haven’t got any games then anyway.
I guess it’s a case of how much do Real Madrid want him for the Club World Cup.
“How much the fee would be is a little bit of a guessing game at this stage, but I think Liverpool would do it, though.”
Given that the Club World Cup starts on June 14th, this would simply be a matter of Madrid paying Liverpool to end Alexander-Arnold’s contract a couple of weeks early.
Back in January, there were reports that the European champions were willing to pay around £30m for Trent six months ahead of time.
With just weeks left to buy out in the summer, it is likely that this price will have dropped hugely.
Instead, it’s probable that the fee received by Liverpool would possibly only cover the final couple of weeks of his deal.
It may not even reach £1m.
For some supporters, they would prefer to be as petty as possible and block Alexander-Arnold from leaving.
If Liverpool can at least get something from the whole sorry saga it is at least better than nothing.
