Former Premier League boss Sam Allardyce has shared his thoughts on why Liverpool might have passed up the chance to bring in Ruben Amorim as Jurgen Klopp's successor, amid claims the Portuguese was a bit too headstrong for the Merseysiders.

I was told that's why Liverpool didn't want him (Amorim).

"He was too stubborn.



Liverpool didn't want to play that way.

Amorim finds himself under pressure ahead of this weekend's fixtures and suggested Everton boss David Moyes has been outperforming him since returning to Goodison Park.

"We have to give merit to the players of Everton and especially to the coach of Everton, and we need to do the same.

You feel the confidence and belief are there," he said.

The United boss had wanted to take over in the summer, allowing for a full pre-season with his players, and still believes that would have been the best option for all parties.

He added: "I think that's clear

I knew it would be tough and a risk, but it's Manchester United and you can't say no."
