Roy Keane and Ian Wright were both left irritated after being asked to pick between Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne on the latest episode of the Stick to Football, The Liverpool forward is close to signing a new two-year contract with the club, but the Belgian has confirmed he will leave Man City when his own deal expires this summer.

Gary Neville asked the panel on the podcast, brought to you by Sky Bet, ‘Whose Premier League legacy is greater, Mo Salah or Kevin De Bruyne?’

Wright, Keane, Neville and Jill Scott were all unanimous in picking De Bruyne.



But the former Arsenal striker and Manchester United captain were both left frustrated after being pushed for an answer.

“At the moment you’d probably have to go with Kevin De Bruyne, wouldn’t you,” Wright reasoned.

“Simply because of the amount he has done, and I think he probably makes the all-time Premier League XI if we’re going to be totally honest about what he’s done.

“He’s a fantastic player and an unbelievable professional.

Mo Salah is amazing as well…

“I said De Bruyne!

Can I just say it's an unfair question on Salah though.

“You have to go with somebody who's got the same amount of medals or some same amount of accomplishments.”

Salah looks set to win his second Premier League title with Liverpool this season, and stands joint-fifth in the all-time scoring charts with 184 goals.

He has also recorded 86 assists from 296 appearances in the English top-flight for the Reds and Chelsea.

The forward is also a three-time Premier League Golden Boot winner and also won the Playmaker award in 2021/22, with the Egyptian on course to win both prizes again this season.

Meanwhile, De Bruyne is a six-time Premier League champion, and boasts 70 goals and 118 assists from 281 league appearances for Man City.

A three-time winner of the Playmaker award, only Ryan Giggs has set up more goals in Premier League history.

Meanwhile, Salah and De Bruyne have been named in the PFA Premier League Team of the Year three and five times respectively.

Salah is a two-time PFA Players' Player of the Year and FWA Footballer of the Year winner, and has been named the Premier League Player of the Season once and PFA Fans' Player of the Year three times.

De Bruyne is also a two-time PFA Players' Player of the Year winner, and has won the Premier League Player of the Season award twice.

The Overlap is not the first podcast to debate De Bruyne’s legacy this week, with Manchester United Rio Ferdinand causing controversy on his own ‘Rio Presents’ podcast when he insisted that Steven Gerrard was a better player than the Belgian.
