If the Liverpool player who has been most vocal publicly about his Premier League title dream is Mohamed Salah, there are surely few whose more private ambitions have burned brighter than Ibrahima Konate.
Given that trophy ceremony was performed in front of no supporters at the height of the pandemic, however, something entirely new to the whole Liverpool squad awaits if they can hold their nerve and for Konate, he might be forgiven for believing there are few others who will deserve it as much.
Having played his part for a side who recorded 92 Premier League points only to miss out on the crown on the final day, thanks to Manchester City's late fightback against Aston Villa, Konate was once more made to settle for a silver medal only when the Reds were beaten 1-0 by Real Madrid in the Champions League final - in his hometown of Paris, no less - just six days later.
Later that year, Konate was part of the France squad that went all the way to the World Cup final, only to fall to a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentina in Qatar.
With a 13-point advantage at the top of the table now, the Reds are big favourites to beat Arsenal to a second championship in five years and Konate has been one of the stars of the show this time out.
And now, as he and Van Dijk continue to flourish as a fearsome pairing at the heart of the Liverpool defence, Konate is close to realising an ambition that has bubbled up to the surface the more established he has become.
