After the game, Konate was spotted in an unexpected place in Liverpool.

Staff at the Blackstock Market on Blackstock Street in Vauxhall grabbed a picture with the footballer as he picked up some food a few hours after the game finished.

Blackstock Market, which opened last year, is a huge indoor food market with two bars and hosts events from the Hot Water Comedy Club.

Several staff members grabbed a selfie with Konate.

The picture was posted onto Blackstock Market's social media channels just before 6pm with the caption: “Look who popped in for some post-match burgers at Blackstock Market - glad he managed to get a parking space.”

Reacting to the picture, many joked that Konate had left Anfield early after he was substituted to pick up his food.

One said: “So that’s why he was subbed at half-time.” Another said: “Is this where he went at half-time?”

The comment about parking is in reference to the ongoing dispute between businesses such as Blackstock and Liverpool City Council over the council’s parking zone around Everton's new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.

Earlier this month, the local authority announced plans for what it called a new 'Football Match Day Parking Zone' that will be introduced around the 52,888 seater stadium ahead of the Blues' move next season.

It will run for up to 18 months and some form of restrictions will be in place every day during that period - not only on Everton home match days.

Paul Blair, the owner of Blackstock Market and Hot Water Comedy Club, described the plans as “disgraceful” to the ECHO, arguing it would damage trade for local businesses.

Liverpool City Council has emphasised that the parking restrictions are an experimental order and the local authority says it will be monitoring the impact of the scheme and assessing it to see if any elements need to be modified.

Councillor Dan Barrington, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Transport and Connectivity, said: “Bramley-Moore Dock is also a unique location given its very close proximity to the city centre and the fact the surrounding transport infrastructure is well developed.
