Liverpool are ready to spend big this summer, with Alexander Isak emerging as the main target for the Reds.
The Newcastle United striker has been one of the best attackers in the Premier League this season, with Isak playing a key role in the Magpies winning the Carabao Cup against Liverpool as the Toon now look to finish in a UEFA Champions League spot.
As a result of the forward’s form, Isak is a top target for Liverpool, though Newcastle’s £150m asking price for the Swedish international is proving to be a real sticking point for the Reds heading into the summer.
Yet Liverpool could now be preparing to move for Isak if one condition is met by Newcastle during the transfer window.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Liverpool will move for Isak if Newcastle decide to lower their demands for Isak, though the Reds do have other striker options if the Magpies opt to stick to their £150m asking price.
Liverpool have been linked with Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike with the France youngster viewed as a cost-effective alternative to Isak with Newcastle demanding a Premier League record fee for the striker.
Yet if the Magpies do decide to lower their asking price for Isak, Liverpool could be first in line to land the Newcastle superstar, who would be an exceptional signing for the Reds alongside the likes of Mohamed Salah in the attack.

Jacobs said when asked about Liverpool’s hunt for a striker: “With Liverpool, I’m hearing they’re not going to drop £150m on Isak, but they’ll bid if he genuinely becomes available at a lower number, but they also like Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro.”
Unless Isak himself demands a move away from Newcastle this summer, the chances of the Magpies lowering their demands for the former Real Sociedad star stand at next to zero, with Liverpool unlikely to fork out £150m for the striker this summer.
However, the Reds could opt to take a risk and wait out for Isak throughout the summer, with the forward potentially weighing up whether or not to leave Newcastle for a move to a club like Liverpool, where the Swede will be leading the line for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Indeed, Isak is the striker of Liverpool’s dreams who could all-but guanretee that the Anfield side retain the Premier League next season if he is acquired, and playing the waiting game could be a tactic that the backroom staff decide to do in hope that something happens on Newcastle’s end.
