Liverpool are one win away from the Premier League title, with the Reds seemingly focused on the summer transfer window already.
Despite being by far and away the best side in England this season, a lot of work is expected to be done to the Liverpool squad during the off-season, with Jamie Carragher suggesting that the Reds could make six new signings.
One area of the pitch that’s expected to see big investment is the striker position, with Liverpool interested in signing Alexander Isak as well as Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike, with both strikers hitting 20+ goals this season.
Yet Liverpool’s chances of signing one of these forwards now looks unlikely heading into the summer market.

According to journalist David Lynch, Liverpool’s interest in Ekitike appears to be not as big as it is currently being made out to be, with the French youngster a player who isn’t being talked about internally at Anfield.
With Frankfurt recently putting an £86m asking price on Ekitike’s head, the Bundesliga side are resigned to losing the 22-year-old attacker this summer, and Liverpool might now not be a potential destination for the former PSG star.
Lynch said: “In terms of progressing with Ekitike, I’m increasingly sceptical.
That price tag is outrageous for someone as raw as he seems, and to go from Nunez to him would feel a little bit like going out of the frying pan and into the fire, he seems to me to be rough on the edges.

“The thing that’s making me sceptical is that I haven’t really been given any encouragement on the name from the Liverpool side as someone that’s been talked about a lot on the training ground or someone they’re raving about.”
With Darwin Nunez expected to leave Liverpool this summer, a new striker is needed at Anfield if Arne Slot is to lead his side to a second Premier League title in his sophomore year in England with the Reds.
And with Ekitike a player who suits Liverpool’s style, the Merseyside giants need to make a definitive decision on if they want to sign the Frankfurt star this summer, with every striker expected to come at a premium for the English giants.
Indeed, the 22-year-old striker fits the bill for what Liverpool are looking for in a centre-forward, and if Liverpool are serious about reclaiming the Premier League title, splashing the cash on the perfect players for Slot needs to be a priority this summer.
