Liverpool chiefs perhaps left many Reds fans surprised when their transfer interest in Anthony Gordon emerged.
The Newcastle United winger is currently on international duty with England, alongside Reds duo Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez.
But like the Liverpool pair, the attacker has not seen much game time at Euro 2024 so far, with the Three Lions now into the semi-final.
It is highly likely that Gordon will not be able to finalise his club future until after the tournament, with England potentially going all the way.
But he is a player that Liverpool are chasing this summer, with Fabrizio Romano saying there is a ‘possibility’ for a deal should Newcastle drop their asking price.

The Magpies were potentially going to lose Gordon due to PSR compliancy rules, but they have since sold Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson.
Those sales to Brighton and Nottingham Forest respectively – along with Dan Ashworth’s move to Manchester United – have, however, changed things.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, Newcastle are ‘quite calm’ about Gordon as they believe they have complied with PSR.
He added that the Magpies brought in over £75million before the PSR deadline, so now there is no urgency to sell Gordon at this point.
It remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool fans would be on board with bringing a former Everton player to Anfield.
Gordon has certainly troubled the Reds during his brief but impressive career so far, while he has also shone for England when given the chance.

But it does look like a deal would have to wait for the time being, with Liverpool potentially eyeing Gordon as their big signing of 2025.
He will be desperate to make an impact at Euro 2024 with England, who now meet the Netherlands for a spot in the final.
Arne Slot will definitely be keeping an eye on that meeting, with the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Alexander-Arnold and even Gordon potentially playing key roles.
