LFC Stories, a book by Reach Sport bringing together the best LFC articles from Dan Kay's career
A book celebrating the best Liverpool FC features written by former ECHO reporter Dan Kay is now available to pre-order.
Dan was a hugely respected journalist and campaigner who was known for his relentless work supporting the families of those who died at Hillsborough.
His death, aged 45 in May 2023, led to an outpouring of grief from friends and colleagues, whose lives Dan touched throughout the years.
Dan was a huge Liverpool FC supporter, whose knowledge of the football and the Reds was unrivalled, and his long-reads on club legends, matches and events were some of the most popular and well received content on the ECHO's sports pages.
Indeed, Dan's pieces were even loved by some of the players whose careers he covered in such colourful detail, and Reach Sport is bringing some of those articles together into the ultimate book for Liverpool supporters.
From John Aldridge's journey from a boyhood red to live his Liverpool dream to the inside story of Steven Gerrard's career and Craig Johnston's odyssey from Australia to Anfield, the book is filled with incredible stories.
It is available to pre-order now and includes a foreword from Dan's hero, Liverpool legend Sir Kenny Dalglish, who writes: "I’m told that after his tragic passing, Dan's family, friends and colleagues were inundated with messages about Dan and, in particular, his prolific volunteering.
He would deliver food hampers to those less fortunate, feed the homeless on Christmas Day, and donate his time to charities around Liverpool.
Those closest to Dan have channelled their grief into The Dan Kay Foundation.
"But it was Dan’s dedication to the Hillsborough families, to support their fight for justice, where he will be most fondly remembered, as he used his platform as a journalist to show how much he cared.
Like everyone connected to Liverpool Football Club and Hillsborough, the families come first and Dan had the families in mind at every turn.
I am aware of the formidable impact Dan had on the long fight for justice."
The Dan Kay Foundation has raised over £25,000 since 2023, supporting mental health and suicide prevention charities, local youth organisations and schools, as well as food banks, warm banks and Christmas present appeals for low-income families.
